Buena Vista Hotel

Post by winced36 »

I had planned to use this building as part of the 2025 tunnel.tree-stand project, but the footprint proved too big to fit onto the hillside. Instead, we went ahead and finished it as a stand-alone:

We call it the Buena Vista, a nod to one of the grand hotels built and operated at Pen Mar in the Blue Ridge mountains of Maryland/Pennsylvania between the late 1800's and mid-1900's.

In true putz-house fashion, the windows are glazed with red-tinted acetate. The mullions are crafted using Tamiya 1mm masking tape. I used a bit of Aleene's Glitter Snow for the accumulated precip on the roof and portico. I made a few mistakes along the way, but all-in-all, it turned out decent.
