PAUL SAYS - The Pikemaster was American Flyer's last hurrah - they made the track curves narrower to compete with HO. They made that train really cheap to compete with the lower end of Lionel, but it didn't save them. I'd love to see a good scan of that ad at the S Gauge forum on BIT

Thanks for posting. Maybe if they had started making realistic-looking track twenty years earlier, they might have headed off the HO movement. Their trains ran on two-rail track and they were actually in scale (unlike Lionel's). They even had better detail than a lot of the early HO (and some of what is sold for HO now). But this was too little too late.
