Picked up this Dinky repro and a few others from a French vendor recently: The Dinky 111 TR-2 was on the wishlist back when I was a kid...more than fifty years later I finally get one.

At 1:55 scale, a bit small for O-gauge, Lesney's Models of Yesteryear line had a number of nice vehicles that can be used on the layout in a pinch. Here's a mint Rolls Royce Silver Ghost from the early/mid-1960s:Found this one in a Baltimore thrift store, still in its nice box.

I'd be remiss in not offering the Lledo Days Gone line as a good source of vehicles for the layout:There are many nice models in the range, although the majority of them are scaled at 1:64, which would make them best suited for S-gauge, perhaps a bit undersized for O-gauge. Move them to the back of the layout and forced-perspective can keep them looking appropriate.

Seen here is a brace of Rolls Royce models sporting different paint-schemes. Lledo went bankrupt in 1999, but Corgi bought the name and continued manufacturing the range until 2007 or so. There is still a lot of product out there, but its getting progressively more expensive, i.e. collectible, as each year goes by. Many can still be found for less than ten bucks. They made a lot of promotional stuff too, which can be really fun.

An example of Lledo promotional items:Again, the Lledo range is a bit undersized for O-gauge, near perfect for S-gauge. They did manufacture a range they called Vanguard which was 1/43-scale (European O-gauge). Those are very nice.

Picked this Lledo as a reminder of all of the Airfix kits I built as a kid. Those were some good times.

Another small project, this one an effort to refurbish a vintage Tootsietoy casting:As found, stripped and given a gloss-white basecoat, then detailed using some "leather" and "steel" acrylic and a grey wash. Made a windscreen from a scrap of thin plexi I have here (alas, it's too tall and should have a bend in the center).

Regarding your windshield, it may not be "authentic"---but it sure looks good to me. A friend was able to create a bend in some plexi to replace a curved window on an old doll house by heating it in the oven. Perhaps she just got lucky.....Maybe this will work for you at some future date. Frankly, this piece is just beautifully restored as far as I am concerned. Really nice work.

Another vintage diecast brought back from the dead, this a Corgi #230 Mercedes 220SE:



Someone, likely a kid, tried to sport it up a bit with a coat of silver enamel. I tried my best to get that off, then a repaint with some basic gloss white enamel (original color would have been an off-white, tough to find in spray). Buffed out the windows a bit with the dremel, than a new set of repro rubber tires. Finished off with a new printed/assembled box.

I don't know that this one will find its way onto the layout, as it's a bit late era-wise. Opening trunk, steerable front wheels, with Corgi's Glidamatic sprung suspension, a nice little toy from the 1960s.
