Battery Powered O Gauge Trains?

Post by paulrace »

A reader asks:

Do you have any O-gauge battery powered sets or locomotives?

Thanks for getting in touch. I am sorry but I don't know anyone who makes battery-powered trains in O gauge these days. Actually I don't sell the trains myself - I just advertise the one I feel good about recommending to my readers.

That said, can I ask why you need a train and/or why it needs to be battery powered? I might be able to suggest an alternative. For example the Lionel Large Scale battery-powered trains aren't much larger than O scale. The track circle is about a foot wider, though, so if space is a premium they might not be your best choice.

There are some Lionel Large Scale battery-powered train listed on the bottom of this page.

For a cheaper (and not quite as nice alternative, Scientific Toys/Ez-Tec has a couple trains that are being sold in department stores this Christmas. they are even more toylike, but they're much more affordable. Here are two examples on Amazon (though you might be able to find one cheaper in a department or hardware store near you).

Sorry I can't be more specific at the moment - Paul
