Bungalow project

Post by winced36 »

Been wanting to give the Tribute to Tinplate bungalow project a try, and this week I finally found some time to get started:

It's scaled a bit larger than the Lionel version, so it should look a little better than an original when sitting adjacent to other O-gauge buildings and equipment.

First attempt...we'll see how this goes.

Okay, with the exception of giving it a clear gloss overspray, the bungalow project is complete:

Learned quite a bit in constructing this, much of which will be applied in the next project. One thing, if you give this a try, you need to scale the porch/entryway up quite a bit. It's far too small when compared to the Lionel 184 bungalow (see upper right image). I'm not sure if this was a function of my printing it too small somehow, or if it's just scaled wrong in the plans. I should have been paying closer attention during assembly. Also, I made the roof a lift-off so I can put a light in it later if I decide to replace the windows.

Good project...thanks to Paul and Howard for taking the time to develop and provide it for us.

I think we're going to try this again, but sized more in line with the original. This first one is a bit too big for the layout.
