Interesting...very similar to the Lionel tunnels. I wonder who ripped off who? Wonder what year this was manufactured.

European toy trains are intriguing, especially those manufactured during the interwar period. The fact that the companies were able to re-emerge following the First World War, then struggle through the period of austerity, German hyperinflation, and then the Great Depression, is quite a story. There's an innocence seen here that belies all the ugliness of the period and following disaster. Many of the great toy companies of Europe would perish as a result. Seen in that light, it makes these artifacts even more amazing.
