Here's a small junction box I made from some wood scraps, cardboard from a cereal box, a couple of nails, two repro insulators from George Tebolt, and a bit of paint and glue:

Will use this as the end-point for the lines running along my power poles.

yep!...this is the way thing were done back before the "buy, buy, buy syndrome" set in...we made things we wanted and needed...the insulators are really neat...the decal as well...

i have a small project that i will post soon...i think you'll find it interesting...somewhat related to "power"...i just have to find the images...

my very best regards...howard...

One thing to note...the "decal" is just a High-Voltage warning sign I found while googling, shrunk it down using MS Paint, cut it out and glued it on. I gave the whole thing an overspray of clear semi-gloss.

Somewhere around here I have a plan for a small phone-box that many of the railways would have along the right-of-way. I need to find that and make one of those as well. I seem to remember it used a wire that dropped down from a nearby telegraph pole. It should be an easy little project.

So it's been six years and I'm finally getting around to using this box for what I originally intended - the terminus for some electric lines running down the mainline into the tunnel at Heat-Pump Pass. Here's a few photos after we wrapped up the job:

We used Stretch Magic bead and jewelry cord for the "wire", figuring that will give a little if confronted by an arm-swinging overly-exuberant layout visitor. I'm not so concerned about the wire breaking, just don't want the tinplate poles damaged or broken.

It looks pretty good at the right angle; otherwise, it kinda blends in.

The level of realism and detail is quite amazing!
