Using the prewar Dorfan 425 station as inspiration, a glitter house version (with numerous modifications from the original):

Matt board and basswood construction on a 3/8-inch thick masonite base. Windows were replicated on MS Excel, then printed on vellum paper.

A few shots of an original 425:

Undecided on interior lighting...maybe a couple of non-flickering LED tea lights.

BTW, I found this inexpensive rechargeable LED "keychain light" online (eBay or Amazon, can't remember which) and it works pretty well for lighting random one-off structures around the layout and/or Christmas display:

It's only slightly larger than a tea-light, but much brighter. It has two brightness settings and comes with a USB cord that can plug into your PC for a recharge. It also has a bottle-opener, which is really handy

Here's a few other in-process pics:

Printing on vellum paper is a bit tricky. I use an ink-jet printer, so sometimes the ink smears in the printing process. It does it randomly and only occasionally, so I just wait a moment, then reprint.
