RMT manufactures a line of O-gauge trains. Some use former Marx tooling, some are original designs. Here's a couple of pics of the only RMT locomotive I own, the BEEP:

A fun little locomotive with some neat details.

Does it glow in the dark? I had to look up RMT to see if they were still in business after partnering with the Polks, whose AristoCraft train business then went bankrupt. Apparently they are, but they seem to be struggling. The GG1 looks great.

That's actually a good question...no it doesn't. Lionel does manufacture a range of AEC box cars that do glow in the dark, along with a number of tank cars that have some disconcerting colored fluid sloshing around in them...all good fun. I bought the AEC Beep rather than dropping north of $200 for a Lionel AEC-57 reissue (a nice original goes for considerably more than that).

My son is a nuclear engineer...we had to have an AEC train to run around the layout...

Here's an example of the glow-in-the-dark box cars Lionel has manufactured in recent years:

Kinda goofy but the kids love them.

Some years they make a Halloween car with a glow-in-the-dark spook's head. A whole car would be better. :-)

I see on one of the other forums that RMT is going out of business. The owner, Walter Matuch, announced his retirement as of February 24, 2016. They have made some fun stuff over the past ten or so years, especially the assortment of Beeps. Walter and RMT will be missed.

"After a lifetime career on actual railroads (Jersey Central, Rahway Valley, Erie-Lackawanna, Conrail, US Navy) and in model railroading that spanned almost 50 years, I’m coming to the ‘end of the line’ says Walter M. Matuch, president of Ready Made Trains LLC. On February 24th, I will be 67 years young and will retire to fully enjoy my family and finally complete my model railroad! RMT, the company, will remain online, perhaps until the end of April 2016, as the remaining in-stock RMT inventory is sold on the RMT website. You can order online right now 24/7 and all current orders and new orders placed online will be processed and shipped by warehouse operating staff during that time, then RMT will be done and the doors closed."

That's too bad. Wish they could find a buyer.

Apparently they are still selling off the last of the inventory before shuttering. Prices look out-of-line to me, but if you're needing something this is probably the last opportunity. Check it out:

Well, it's been two years since they announced they were shutting down, but I see they still have the website up and a fair bit of inventory remains:

Based on the announcement of "New Item", I presume they're making more stuff.
