New Article: "Building a Vintage-Style Barn and Silo"
Glitterhouse builder Howard Lamey has used printouts from our Resources section to create a 3-dimensional barn and silo that can be used in a holiday village or adapted for use on an indoor railroad.
Do you like to see new photographs of other people's trains and towns? So do we. Unfortunately, we can't come into your houses and take photos, so we need you to send photos to us. At this point we are especially in need of:
- Photos that show your trains along with your towns, and
- Photos of trains and towns that a season other than Christmas.
Also, if you've come up with a technique or idea you'd like to share with our readers, let us know. Don't worry about the writing part. If we have photographs and a good idea of how you accomplished something, we can put the article together and get you to take a look at it before we go "live." And don't worry about credit, we ALWAYS give credit where it is due, for photos or ideas, or articles.
All of this will help us help you and the hobby at large. Please contact us if you have any photographs you'd be willing to share, story ideas, questions, or anything else worth putting in an e-mail.
Year-'Round Holiday Villages
I admit it, this is a plug. If you're never quite ready to put your collectible village away with the Christmas decorations, you
should know that Hawthorne Village now makes collectible villages and trains for every season and for several other holidays, including St. Patrick's day. The Emerald Isle Village Collection includes Killarney Castle, St. Patrick's Church, O'Brien's Pub, O'Sullivan's Club, Kelly's Woolen Market, Murphy's Bookshop, and more. The Spirit of Ireland Express includes Irish-themed accents and art by Irish artist Edmund Sullivan.
