A reworking of the prewar 225E casting, the 675/2025/2035 was dressed up in the spirit of the Pennsy K4 Pacific (note the Belpaire firebox). This example is a bit knicked-up, paired with a 2466W tender. Pulls a lot, and it weighs a lot.

As a Pennsy fan, this and the GG1 were always among my favorite Lionel locomotives. Much smaller than scale, of course, but they gave a good impression. I had the American Flyer S gauge K-5, which looked a lot like this Lionel.
Sometimes you find postwar (and prewar) trains in conditions that might have them heading for the bin. It doesn't take much to bring them back to respectability:

It's a good way to have some fun for not much money. Bought this Lionel 2465 in poor cosmetic condition (someone had slobbered super-glue all over it). An evening's work removing the super-glue, a shot of Testors silver paint and a few decals from George Tebolt and its back to something nice.
Lithography is where you run into problems...not much can be done with that.
This car was included in a Quaker Oats promotional set offered briefly in the early 1960's. Lots of play-value here, something Lionel tried to emphasize with their postwar sets.

Here's a Lionel 1655 from 1948-49. While similar to the Scout 2-4-2, the 1655 (and sister 1654) had standard knuckle couplers and was sold in small sets with O-27 cars. They don't pull more than three or four cars. I have a prewar 1684 2-4-2 which is almost exactly the same as the 1654/55.
