Thor Sheil's All-Gauge Model Railroading page remains a great place to go for layout ideas, especially of a Christmas (Yule) variety:

Thor may not be with us anymore, but thankfully his page remains in place. You can get lost in there for days.

Great site for layout ideas
Re: Great site for layout ideas
It seems Thor's site has disappeared into the vapor that is the internet. He passed away a few years ago, and now his site has gone with him. It's unfortunate, as there was a lot of useful info on there.
This kinda plays into the notion that one can dispose of their hard-copy library because everything is seemingly available online. One has to think of an internet visit as the equivalent of a snapshot in time...what's there today may very well be gone tomorrow. Lack of interest (online views) often leads to content being removed.
Along those lines, I just ordered a bunch of reference books on prewar toys.

Re: Great site for layout ideas
Some of the guys over on OGR have gotten Thor's site back up and re-hosted. Here's the link:

Sounds like the hosting agreement is in place for three years. Hopefully someone will pick it up or extend the service beyond that. Until then, enjoy it.
